Philadelphia Police Department has reported that eight students from Temple University were robbed at gunpoint by three men Saturday night. Police are investigating the incident which took place on Edgely Street in North Philadelphia.
Police say the students were approached by the three suspects, at least one was armed with a gun and pointed it at the head of one of the students, demanding their money and personal belongings.
This incident has highlighted a growing trend of violence in around the Temple University campus.
Last week, an armed robbery and home invasion took place within 15 minutes of each other near the University’s campus. A shootout near the campus injured a man in an 18-year-old girl last Thursday.
A Temple University graduate was shot and killed at a youth football game close to Temple University campus last week.
Temple University issued a warning to students last week advising them to be aware of their surroundings as they travel in and around campus.
