Brooklyn, NY – A late-night 911 call led officers to a grim discovery inside a Coney Island apartment on Sunday, where an 89-year-old woman was found with severe head trauma before later being pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Police responded to 3015 West 29th Street at around 10:27 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault inside the building, located within the 60th Precinct. Upon arrival, officers were told that the woman had been discovered unconscious and injured.
Emergency medical crews rushed her to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, but despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities said the victim’s name is being withheld until her family is notified.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
