Ellendale Woman Charged in Machete Attack

ELLENDALE, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested 26-year-old Briana Diedrich of Ellendale, Delaware on felony weapon charges following an assault investigation conducted on Wednesday.

Troopers were called to a residence on the 20000 block of Orchard Road in Ellendale following a report of an assault.

Upon their arrival, they discovered a 29-year-old man from Millsboro, Delaware with a bleeding arm wound. The ensuing investigation revealed that Diedrich, an acquaintance of the victim, had attacked the the victim with a machete.

The man, after being injured, had managed to escape and call 9-1-1. He did not request medical treatment for his injury. Diedrich was arrested without incident, and troopers recovered the machete at the scene.

Diedrich now faces charges, which include possession of a deadly weapon during a felony commission, second-degree assault, aggravated menacing, and terroristic threatening. She has been committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $33,000 cash bond, following her arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2.
