Employee Arrested for Stealing $25,000 Worth of Items from Prudential Center Mall

Boston, MA – At about 7:10 PM on Monday, officers from the Boston Police Department arrested Justin Smith, 22, of Brighton, on larceny charges.

Officers were called to 1 Ring Road following a report of a shoplifter in custody, according to Loss Prevention staff.

Loss Prevention informed officers that they witnessed the employee stealing around $25,125 worth of merchandise. Surveillance showed the suspect attempting to transfer the items to a vehicle in the area before being intercepted by Loss Prevention. The suspect had also taken $22,530 worth of goods the day prior.

The stolen items were recovered, and Smith was charged with larceny over $1,200. He is set to appear in Boston Municipal Court for arraignment.
