Employee Shot Dead in Brewerytown Food Market

PHILADELPHIA, PA – An employee was shot and killed inside the Jefferson Food Market in Philadelphia’s Brewerytown area last Thursday night, as reported by the local police. The incident occurred at the market located at 1501 North 29th St., with the call made just before 6:45 p.m.

Officers found the man unresponsive on the store floor, having sustained a gunshot wound to his neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:47 p.m. The man was engaged in stocking shelves when the fatal shooting occurred.

A semi-automatic handgun and five spent shell casings were recovered from the site by the police. The store owner has been cooperating with investigators. It’s reported that another employee was present during the shooting, although the circumstances leading up to the event are still unclear. Surveillance video is being reviewed for potential clues.
