PITTSBURGH, PA — Attorney General Michelle Henry has announced the indictment of Equitrans, L.P. following a house explosion that critically injured a family on Halloween of 2018.
The White family home in Clarksville suffered an incident due to an unaddressed natural gas leak.
On October 31, 2018, after igniting a stove, the White residence at 161 Bowser Road exploded, resulting in severe injuries to the couple and their young child.
The Grand Jury found Equitrans responsible for neglecting the maintenance of the nearby deteriorating gas well, which led to methane infiltration into the home’s water supply.
Equitrans faces several charges under the Clean Streams Law for the leak and failure to investigate post-incident. The prosecution underscores the imperative of corporate compliance with regulations to ensure community safety.
