MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Gary Winner, a retiree from Erie County, received a ceremonial check Thursday after winning $1,162,845 from a Cash 5 with Quick Cash jackpot ticket sold at Giant Eagle in Millcreek Township, the Pennsylvania Lottery announced.
Winner, 64, purchased $20 worth of Quick Pick tickets on June 9, drawn by the jackpot climbing over $2 million. His winning ticket split the total prize with another ticket sold in Butler County, which has not yet been claimed.
Winner, who works part-time at a golf shop, said discovering he had won took his breath away. He plans to help his wife retire, make home improvements, and spend more time on the golf course.
Giant Eagle, the retailer that sold the winning ticket, will receive a $10,000 bonus, which store officials plan to share with Meals on Wheels Erie, a nonprofit serving more than 50,000 meals annually to seniors.

Pennsylvania Lottery Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne said winners help support critical programs for older Pennsylvanians and recognized retailers like Giant Eagle for their role in Lottery sales.

The winning ticket matched all five numbers in the Cash 5 drawing, with no further details released about the Butler County ticket still outstanding.
Players have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes, the Lottery reminded.
