Escaped NYC Inmate Back in Custody After Three Week Manhunt

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department has reported the arrest of 35-year-old James Mossetty on charges related to escaping from custody. The arrest occurred on July 16, 2024, at 1:47 PM within the confines of the 13 Precinct.

Mossetty, a resident of 44-24 College Point Boulevard, Queens, NY, was initially involved in an incident where he escaped corrections custody at NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue. This event took place on Wednesday, June 26, at around 9:38 PM while Mossetty was receiving medical treatment.

After escaping, Mossetty fled on foot into the FDR Drive. He remained at large until his recent apprehension. The NYPD had previously sought the public’s assistance in locating him following his escape.
