ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, N.J. — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has expanded temporary restrictions on drone flights in several areas of New Jersey, with new rules now in effect through January 18, 2025.
The restrictions, initially announced earlier this month, prohibit most drone activity in nearly two dozen towns and municipalities, adding new limits to areas across Gloucester, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Union counties.
The newly restricted zones include:
- Gloucester County: Paulsboro, Westville
- Hudson County: South Kearny
- Middlesex County: Port Reading
- Monmouth County: Atlantic Highlands, Belford, Fort Hancock, Highlands
- Union County: Linden
The FAA has not publicly detailed the specific reasons for the expanded restrictions, but such measures are typically implemented for safety, security, or operational concerns.
The ban, which began on Monday, applies to unauthorized drone flights and will remain in place until January 18.
