BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. — A Pennsylvania woman has pleaded guilty to multiple charges after falsely accusing a man of attempted rape and kidnapping, leading to his wrongful incarceration for nearly a month.
Anjela Borisova Urumova formally entered a guilty plea Thursday to seven criminal charges, including one count each of false alarm to an agency of public safety and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, two counts of false reports, and three counts of unsworn falsification to authorities, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office announced.
Common Pleas Judge Stephen Corr has deferred Urumova’s sentencing pending a presentence investigation.
The charges stem from an incident on April 16, 2024, when Urumova falsely claimed that 41-year-old Daniel Pierson attacked her in the parking lot of a Redner’s supermarket in Middletown Township. Urumova alleged that Pierson pulled down her pants and struck her in the face, showing a visible cut on her lip as evidence.
Middletown Township Police, along with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, launched an extensive investigation. Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from multiple nearby retailers and conducted a forensic analysis of Urumova’s cellphone data. Authorities discovered several inconsistencies and contradictions in her story, ultimately revealing that the attack had been fabricated.
As a result of Urumova’s false accusations, Pierson was arrested and spent nearly a month in jail before the investigation cleared him of any wrongdoing.

The District Attorney’s Office has not yet announced when Urumova will be sentenced.
