Fast-food parking lot meet leads to child solicitation charge

Howard County man arrested in undercover child exploitation sting

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A 48-year-old Ellicott City man was arrested Tuesday after investigators say he arranged to meet a child for sex but instead encountered an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a minor.

Maryland State Police identified the suspect as Rohit Agarwal. He is charged with one count of sexual solicitation of a minor following a joint investigation involving the Fort Meade Army Criminal Investigation Office.

Investigators say Agarwal had been communicating with an undercover officer through an online app, believing he was speaking with a child. He was arrested without incident in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in Anne Arundel County, where he had allegedly agreed to meet the individual.

Following his arrest, Agarwal was transported to the District Court of Anne Arundel County, where he awaits an appearance before a court commissioner.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released.
