Fatal Collision Under Investigation in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police are currently investigating a fatal collision that happened late Wednesday morning in the Wilmington area. The incident took place at around 10:30 a.m., involving a 2002 International attenuator truck and a 2006 Ford F-150 on Kennett Pike.

The Ford, travelling northbound, crossed over the median for undetermined reasons and collided head-on with the southbound International truck. The 91-year-old male driver of the Ford, a resident of Wilmington, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His identification is currently withheld pending notification to next of kin.

The 57-year-old male driver of the International truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The southbound lane of Kennett Pike was temporarily closed for four hours as the accident was investigated and the wreckage cleared.
