Fatal Crash in Georgetown Claims Life of 26-Year-Old Driver

GEORGETOWN, DE – A tragic single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man from Georgetown, Delaware. Delaware State Police are currently investigating the incident.

The crash occurred on November 26, 2023, around 1:17 a.m. The driver was operating a white Hyundai Santa Fe eastbound on the Lewes-Georgetown Highway, just east of Fawn Lane. Under unclear circumstances, the vehicle veered off the south side of the road and collided with a tree, subsequently catching fire.

Authorities pronounced the driver dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

The accident led to the closure of the roadway for about four hours as investigators worked the scene and crews cleared the area.
