Fatal Crash Involving Motorized Skateboard Under Investigation

DELMAR, DE – A fatal accident involving a motorized skateboard and a 2018 Hyundai Tucson left one man dead yesterday afternoon on BiState Boulevard.

The incident took place at approximately 5:51 p.m., when a 27-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, on a motorized skateboard swerved into the path of the northbound Tucson. Despite efforts to swerve right and avoid the skateboarder, the Tucson struck the man, who was then propelled onto the vehicle’s windshield before falling into the northbound lane. The Tucson subsequently hit a mailbox on private property.

The skateboarder was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld until family and relatives are notified.

The 21-year-old driver of the Tucson, from Fruitland, Maryland, was unharmed. BiState Boulevard was closed for approximately four hours for investigation and clearance.
