Fatal crash on Broad Street in Utica leaves one dead, another injured

UTICA, N.Y. — A motor vehicle accident on Broad Street near Bacon Street claimed the life of one individual and left another seriously injured early Sunday morning, according to the Utica Police Department.

Emergency crews from the Utica Police and Fire Departments responded to the crash at approximately 8 a.m. Upon arrival, one occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The second occupant was rushed to Wynn Hospital for emergency treatment.

The condition of the injured individual has not yet been disclosed. Authorities stated they would provide updates as more information becomes available.

The Utica Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team remains on-site, analyzing the scene to determine the circumstances of the collision. As a result, Broad Street is closed between Milgate Street and Wetmore Street, with police advising motorists to avoid the area.

“Updates will be released as available,” the department said in a statement shared on its social media channels.
