Fatal Four-Vehicle Collision in Laurel Under Investigation

Laurel, MD — The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal four-vehicle collision that occurred on Saturday. The deceased driver has been identified as 23-year-old Justin Smith of Upper Marlboro, MD.

On June 1, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers responded to the 11000 block of Laurel Bowie Road, where a collision involving four vehicles had taken place. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the second vehicle was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The injuries sustained by other drivers and passengers were not considered life-threatening.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Smith struck a guardrail in the northbound lane of Laurel Bowie Road. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
