Fatal Hit-and-Run in Laurel Claims Life of Pedestrian

LAUREL, MD — The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a fatal hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of 38-year-old Duane Lyons of Laurel. The tragic event occurred on the evening of March 17, on the 13000 block of Laurel Bowie Road.

Responding to reports of a pedestrian struck, patrol officers arrived at the scene around 9:20 p.m. to find Lyons in the roadway, having sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation indicates that Lyons was hit in the northbound lanes of Laurel Bowie Road by a driver who fled the scene following the collision. The vehicle involved is preliminarily identified as a dark gray Jaguar, noted for having significant front-end damage.
