Fatal Hit-and-Run Involving Pedestrian under Investigation

HYATTSVILLE, MD – The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run that occurred in the early hours of Saturday. At approximately 3:20 am, officers were dispatched to the area of University Boulevard and Riggs Road in response to a crash involving a wheelchair user.

The preliminary investigation has uncovered that an unidentified driver struck the pedestrian and fled the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene. The vehicle involved in the incident is preliminarily described as a silver Volkswagen. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
