Fatal Metro-North Train Accident Claims Connecticut Man’s Life

A man who lost his life after being struck by a Metro-North train in the Hudson Valley has been identified as James Hare, a 62-year-old resident of Newtown, Connecticut. The incident occurred on the railroad’s Harlem Line in Dutchess County at the Appalachian Trail station in Pawling around 5:30 p.m. last Friday.

The identification was confirmed by MTA Deputy Communications Director Aaron Donovan on Sunday morning.

Following the accident, train service was temporarily halted between Wassaic and Southeast from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday evening.
