Fatal Motorcycle Collision on Old Hundred Road Claims Life of Germantown Man

GERMANTOWN, MD — A tragic accident on Old Hundred Road has resulted in the death of Ian Capps, a 45-year-old man from Germantown. The collision, involving Capps’ motorcycle and a combine harvester, occurred on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at approximately 1:51 p.m.

Montgomery County Police Department’s 5th District officers, along with Fire Rescue personnel, responded to the 24800 block of Old Hundred Road following reports of the crash. Capps was operating a brown 2018 Indian Scout motorcycle heading southbound when he collided with a John Deere combine harvester traveling in the opposite direction.

The Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. Capps was pronounced dead at the scene.

The operator of the combine harvester cooperated with authorities and remained at the scene following the incident. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
