Fatal motorcycle crash under investigation in Allegany County

ELLERSLIE, Md. — A fatal collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV occurred on Thursday, September 5, 2024, on the 14000 block of Ellerslie Road, the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Robert Jeffrey Palmer, 63, of Paw Paw, W.Va., was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a preliminary investigation by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team, Palmer crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and collided with a southbound vehicle.

Paramedics from the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services attempted life-saving measures, but Palmer did not survive. The driver of the SUV was transported to UPMC Cumberland with minor injuries.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
