Fatal Motorcycle Crash Under Investigation in Bear

Bear, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that claimed the life of a New Castle man. Ronald Meadowcroft, 52, succumbed to his injuries on September 26.

The incident occurred on September 18 at approximately 9:39 p.m. Meadowcroft was riding a Harley-Davidson FXS southbound on Wrangle Hill Road near the intersection with Porter Road. At the same time, a 27-year-old male from Bear, DE, was heading northbound in an Acura RSX. When the Acura attempted a left turn, it crossed into the motorcycle’s path, resulting in a front-end collision.

The driver of the Acura was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later released. Meadowcroft also sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he remained in critical condition until his death on September 26.

Wrangle Hill Road remained closed for approximately two hours while Delaware State Police Troop 2 conducted their investigation and cleared the scene. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities seeking information from any witnesses. Individuals with knowledge of the incident are urged to contact police.
