Fatal Robbery at ATM in Maxton, Suspects Wanted

MAXTON, N.C. – Maxton Police Department is seeking two individuals connected to a fatal robbery at an ATM. The incident occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. on Friday at the Credit Union ATM in the parking lot of the Piggly Wiggle, located off Patterson and Martin Luther King Drives. The victim, identified as 55-year-old James Locklear Jr., was shot in the stomach while withdrawing cash from the ATM.

Detective Tracy Ritchart of Maxton Police reported that Ricky Braddy Jr. and Amanda Carol Deese are wanted in relation to the crime. Another individual, Crystal G. Scott, previously sought, has since been located. Despite being airlifted to a hospital, Locklear died during surgery. Braddy and Deese are wanted for first-degree murder and armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.
