Fatal Shooting in Navy Yard Leaves One Man Dead

WASHINGTON, DC – A fatal shooting within a residential building in the Navy Yard neighborhood is currently being investigated by the Homicide Branch of the D.C. Metro Police Department.

In the early hours of Sunday, at 3:03 a.m., officers from the First District were dispatched to the 1100 block of 2nd Place, Southeast, following reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered a man with gunshot wounds inside the building. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as 44-year-old Michael James Quander Jr., a resident of Northwest D.C.
