Fatal Three-Vehicle Collision in Columbia Leads to DUI Arrest

HOWARD COUNTY, MD – A three-vehicle collision in Columbia on Tuesday night resulted in one fatality and two non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident occurred when a 2009 Ford F-250, driven by Rikelmy E. Beltran-Menjivar, 20, crossed the double yellow line on Tamar Drive near Flicker Place, striking a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and a 1994 Honda Accord.

The driver of the Hyundai, Karen Johnson Battle, 68, was pronounced dead at Howard County General Hospital.

The driver of the Ford, Beltran-Menjivar, was arrested on the scene for driving under the influence and faces multiple charges.
