DOVER, DE – Delaware State Police are currently investigating a fatal incident where a car crashed into a Dover residence early this morning. The accident occurred on May 28, 2024, around 2:42 a.m. on Forrest Avenue near Artis Drive.
A Honda Accord, traveling westbound at a high speed, failed to navigate a curve properly and veered off the road. The vehicle struck a mailbox and then crashed into a home, coming to a stop inside the building. The driver of the Honda fled the scene, and authorities have not yet identified the individual.
Tragically, a 56-year-old woman inside the residence suffered severe injuries from the crash and later died at a local hospital. Her identity has been withheld pending notification of her family.
The area around the crash site was closed for about three hours as police conducted their investigation and cleared the debris. Further details will be provided as the investigation continues.
