Father Arrested in Death of 3-Year-Old Son in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC – Yesterday, Richard Allen Truitt was arrested following the death of his 3-year-old son, Jackson Truitt, in a tragic incident involving an unsecured firearm. The father now faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and failure to secure a firearm from a minor.

Upon arrival at the scene, Steele Creek Division officers immediately made contact with Mr. Truitt and other family members present. They were transported to the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Uptown to speak with homicide detectives.

The investigation into the case is active and ongoing, and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department urges anyone with information to contact them.
