Fight Inside Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail Lands More Charges for Inmate

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA – The Albemarle County Police Department has reported an assault incident at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail that occurred on Friday, December 8, 2023. Following their investigation, two inmates have been charged in connection with the assault.

Tajuan R. Allen, 25, from Esmont, Va., faces charges of felony aggravated malicious wounding under §18.2-51.2. Additionally, Zayon J. Payne, 18, from Charlottesville, Va., has been charged with accessory to assault under §18.2-19.

The victim of the assault, a 36-year-old inmate also from Charlottesville, Va., sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to UVA Hospital for treatment.
