Fire at Jersey Mike’s in Dunkirk Quickly Contained, No Injuries Reported

DUNKIRK, MD – A fire broke out at a Jersey Mike’s restaurant located at 10107 Ward Road, Dunkirk, in the early hours of November 30, 2023. The incident, reported at approximately 4:16 a.m., involved a one-story commercial structure.

Thankfully, there were no injuries or deaths reported in connection with the fire. The estimated loss from the incident is calculated to be around $5,000.00. The building was equipped with a functioning fire alarm and sprinkler system, which activated during the incident, playing a crucial role in controlling the fire.

The Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responder, with 9 firefighters attending the scene. The fire was discovered by the automatic fire alarm system and was contained promptly. The fire originated in the prep station area and is currently under investigation.

At the time of the fire, the business was closed, and firefighters had to force entry into the structure. The sprinkler system contained the fire to a small area behind the prep station, preventing further damage.
