Fair Lawn, NJ – A devastating fire tore through a nearly century-old home in Fair Lawn on Saturday afternoon, resulting in the tragic loss of three cats.

The blaze, which broke out shortly before 2:30 PM on 5th Street off Morlot Avenue, was met with a swift response from the Fair Lawn Fire Department.

Assistant Chief Ralph Rinaldo reported that firefighters encountered heavy fire upon arrival but managed to knock down the flames using deck guns before entering the structure. Despite their aggressive efforts, the fast-moving fire made it impossible to save the three cats inside the home.

The fire was brought under control within an hour, with overhaul operations concluding by 5 PM. No injuries were reported, though the home suffered significant damage.
