Fire Damages Home in Toms River Senior Community

TOMS RIVER, NJ – A structure fire broke out early Sunday, December 17, at a residence on Hovsons Boulevard in the Holiday City area of Toms River. The Silverton Fire Company, responding to the call at approximately 7:55 a.m., found the rear of the house engulfed in flames, with the fire extending into the attic.

Crews from Silverton Fire Company, along with Pleasant Plains Fire Department and East Dover Fire Company, were quickly on the scene. The first responders launched an aggressive attack on the blaze, successfully bringing it under control within about 20 minutes.

Fortunately, no injuries to civilians or emergency personnel were reported during the incident. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire’s cause was accidental, likely due to improperly discarded smoking materials. Inspector Britton of the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
