MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ – Manchester Township Police say two residents were treated for smoke inhalation after a house fire broke out early Tuesday morning on Delaware Avenue in the Roosevelt City section of the township. The blaze prompted a massive response from multiple volunteer fire departments and emergency agencies across Ocean County.

Flames contained before spreading to nearby homes
According to the Manchester Police Department, officers responded at approximately 4:04 a.m. to the 1700 block of Delaware Avenue, where they found flames and smoke pouring from a residence. Police confirmed the occupants were safely evacuated and no pets remained inside.
Firefighters from several Ocean County departments quickly arrived and brought the fire under control before it could spread to nearby homes or vehicles. “The fire was extinguished before it could spread to any additional residences or vehicles,” police said in a statement.
Dozens of agencies assist as cause remains under investigation
Responding units included the Whiting, Manchester, Ridgeway, Joint Base, New Egypt, Bayville, Pinewald Pioneer, Cassville, and Whitesville Volunteer Fire Departments, along with Manchester EMS, Manchester OEM, Berkeley EMS, and the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family with temporary housing and supplies.
EMTs treated both residents at the scene for smoke inhalation, but they declined further medical treatment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Manchester Township Police Investigations Bureau.
