Fire Reported in Art Class at Ocean County School Overnight

Barnegat, NJ – A small fire broke out at Horbelt School overnight, leading to minimal damage before the Barnegat Fire Department and sprinkler system quickly extinguished it.

The origin of the fire was traced back to a kiln in the pottery/art room, causing flooding due to the activated sprinkler system. As a result, transportation needs were affected, leading to Horbelt School students being relocated to Barnegat High School and causing a district-wide delayed opening.

No injuries were reported, and repairs are underway at Horbelt School. Appreciation was extended to the Barnegat Fire Department for their rapid response.
