ELKTON, MD – A farmhouse that has sat vacant for decades caught fire on Wednesday and burned to the ground.

The old farmhouse sits on property that is preserved, so it cannot be built on, investigators said.

The fire was reported in the 3300 block of Telegraph Hill.

Singerly Fire Company, Community Fire Company of Rising Sun, Inc., and multiple other departments battled the fire and remained on the scene extinguishing hot spots after the main fire was put out.
