Firearm Seized from Student’s Bag at Rocky Mount High School

ROCKY MOUNT, NC – On Wednesday, the Rocky Mount Police Department responded to a weapons violation at Rocky Mount High School. The incident occurred at 7:01 a.m. at 1400 Bethlehem Rd.

The school’s Evolv security system detected a firearm in a student’s bag. Authorities, including the School Resource Officer and school administrators, secured the weapon without any threat to students or faculty.

Nash County Public Schools emphasized safety as their top priority and stated that the student involved would face disciplinary actions as per the NCPS’ code of conduct.

The Rocky Mount Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating the acquisition of the firearm.

Rocky Mount Police Department, in their response, ensured no harm to the school community. NCPS asks students to report any concerns and remains committed to keeping the community informed.
