Florence Man Charged for Fight After Trying to Cash Fake Check

FLORENCE, SC – Hasaan Cook, a 38-year-old man from Florence, faced charges of fraud, simple assault, and resisting arrest following an incident on January 26.

The situation unfolded on the 400 block of South Avenue at a business establishment. Police were called to the scene at approximately 3:01 PM due to a physical altercation in progress.

Detective Timothy Handy, who responded to the call, discovered that Cook had allegedly attempted to cash a fraudulent check.

When confronted by the staff manager, Cook became physically aggressive, leading to the altercation. Detective Handy arrested Cook after a brief investigation.

Cook was processed and provided a Superior Court appearance date.
