Florida man indicted on federal drug and firearm charges in Pensacola

PENSACOLA, FL – A DeFuniak Springs man is facing multiple federal charges after a grand jury indicted him for alleged drug trafficking and firearm offenses as part of a nationwide Justice Department operation targeting violent and transnational crime.

Federal prosecutors announced that 45-year-old Bobby Womack was indicted on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon classified as an armed career criminal.

Womack appeared for arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zachary C. Bolitho in Pensacola. A jury trial has been set for March 2, 2026, before U.S. District Judge M. Casey Rodgers.

If convicted, Womack faces severe penalties: a mandatory minimum of 10 years to life for the methamphetamine charge, 5 years to life for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, and 15 years to life for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher C. Patterson is prosecuting the case. The indictment stems from Operation Take Back America, a Justice Department initiative aimed at dismantling cartels, trafficking networks, and organized crime tied to drugs and illegal weapons.
