MECHANICSVILLE, MD – A St. Mary’s County couple, who call themselves the “Powellball” team, attribute their $50,000 Powerball win to the power of manifestation and a fortuitous U-turn.

The couple are regular players and were at New Market Service Center, located at 29233 Three Notch Road, to make their usual purchase, which often includes a Powerball ticket. Upon leaving, they realized they had forgotten to buy a ticket for the September 2 drawing with a $420 million jackpot.

They promptly returned to the store to purchase a $10 ticket containing five lines of numbers. Notably, the winning line was the fifth and final one on the ticket.

The next day, while at a restaurant, the wife scanned the ticket using a Lottery app on her phone and discovered they had won $50,000. The win left her in tears of joy.

The couple, who own a small business, intend to use their winnings to pay bills and invest in their enterprise. They were among three $50,000 winners in Maryland for the September 2 drawing. The other winners were from Harford County and Hyattsville.
