Former ADL Intern Who Tore Down Posters of Kidnapped Israelis in NYC Apologizes, Deletes Social Media Accounts

An NYU student, Yazmeen Deyhimi, faced criticism for tearing down posters of Israeli hostages outside NYU’s Tisch Hall, an act captured on video. Deyhimi, previously associated with the Anti-Defamation League, acknowledged her actions on Instagram amidst social media backlash, attributing it to misplaced anger during challenging times.

A biracial individual, Deyhimi expressed her struggle with current societal tensions. The incident sparked a petition for NYU to address discrimination, gaining over 4,000 signatures, and calls for creating a safer, respectful environment for all students.

After her video went viral, the pre-law student at NYU apologized and removed all of her social media accounts.

Deyhimi worked as an intern for the Jewish rights organization Anti Defamation League in 2019.
