WILMINGTON, DE – Reed Messer, a 42-year-old former Delaware teacher, has been recently arrested and charged with multiple counts of rape following accusations of a sexual relationship with a former student.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2, Criminal Investigations Unit, initiated the investigation on December 23, 2022, after receiving a report from the Delaware Division of Family Services.
The report alleged that Messer, who was a teacher at Stanton Middle School at the time, had a sexual relationship with a juvenile student approximately nine years prior.
The relationship reportedly began in October 2014 and lasted for about two months. On Monday, after being extradited from South Carolina, Messer was arraigned and charged with Sexual Abuse of a Child by a Person of Trust 1st Degree (Felony) – 2 counts, Rape 3rd Degree (Felony)- 10 Counts, and Rape 4th Degree (Felony)- 10 Counts.
She is currently held at the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $310,000 cash bond.
