Toms River Mourns Loss of Former Mayor

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Robert Toscan, a former mayor of Dover Township, now known as Toms River, has died at the age of 87, local officials announced.

Toscan passed away on Monday, though details about his cause of death were not disclosed. The Toms River Township Government expressed condolences to his family and friends.

A longtime public servant, Toscan led the township before it was officially renamed Toms River in 2006. His tenure saw significant growth and changes in the community.

Services for Toscan will be held Monday, Feb. 10, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carmona-Bolen Funeral Home.
