Former Union Treasurer Pleads Guilty to Grand Larceny

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY – Fannie Bowe, a 54-year-old resident of Bellport, has pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree.

Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the plea, stemming from Bowe’s misuse of a union-issued debit card for unauthorized personal expenses.

The illicit activities involved over $20,000, carried out while Bowe served as the treasurer of the Bellport Teachers Association Affiliates Union.

From July 2021 to January, Bowe made unauthorized purchases and ATM withdrawals, totaling more than $20,000. She also falsified treasurer reports to hide her actions. The misuse of funds was discovered by union officials upon reviewing the financial reports.

The Bellport Teachers Association Affiliates, a local union for teaching assistants and school aides, is funded by member dues. On Wednesday, Bowe admitted her wrongdoing before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro, facing a Class D felony charge.
