Four Arrested in Newark Shoplifting Incident

NEWARK, NJ – Four Newark residents were arrested on Saturday, after attempting to steal over $5,500 worth of merchandise from a Kohls store located at 1901 E Edgar Rd.

Newark residents Isiah Banks, 30; Lamont Ellis, 23; Tanajah Loyal, 19; and Shaquille Hargrove, 27, were confronted by police at about 9:50 p.m.

Police reports indicate a struggle ensued, during which an officer was pushed to the ground. The suspects fled the scene in a nearby car before being intercepted and arrested on Route 1 North.

Several officers were injured during the confrontation, with one requiring further treatment at a local hospital. The stolen merchandise was recovered and returned to the store.
