Franklin Duo Opt for Lump Sum After $1 Million Scratch-Off Win

FRANKLIN, NC – Constance Philpott and Sean Kahoe faced a big decision after winning a $1 million top prize from a $10 VIP Platinum scratch-off ticket. They opted for a lump sum of $600,000, split between them, over the annuity option of $50,000 a year for 20 years.

The winning ticket was purchased at N&N Express Mart on East Main Street in Franklin. After required state and federal tax withholdings, each winner took home $213,751.

The VIP Platinum scratch-off game debuted in March and initially offered five $1 million top prizes. Two of those top prizes still remain unclaimed.
