Frederick Police Apprehend Suspect in Downtown Robbery

Frederick, MD – The Frederick Police Department successfully captured a suspect involved in a downtown robbery that took place on Monday at the intersection of South Carroll Street and Carroll Creek. The victim was severely injured by the suspect during the incident, which involved an attempt to steal her purse and a threatening gesture with a firearm before fleeing with her car keys.


Detective Stephen Radtke, part of the Major Crimes Unit, spearheaded the investigation leading to the identification of the suspect through surveillance footage. Working alongside DC Metro Police, the suspect, Bens, was apprehended in Virginia and later extradited back to Maryland.

Currently, she is facing multiple charges and is in custody at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
