NEWARK, N.J. – Drivers face a tough Friday morning commute across New Jersey, with multiple crashes and long delays reported on major highways, bridges, and tunnels.

At 8:13 a.m., a crash blocks the right lane on the George Washington Bridge lower level eastbound at the New Jersey toll plaza in Fort Lee, adding to already heavy traffic. Travel times stretch to 25 minutes on the lower level and 30 minutes on the upper level heading into Manhattan.

Another crash occurs on the Garden State Parkway northbound in Kenilworth near Exit 138, though all lanes remain open. Further south, a collision with injuries shuts down all lanes of Route 42 northbound near Exit 10B in Gloucester Township just before 8 a.m.

In Jersey City, a crash on US 1&9 Truck Route southbound north of NJ 440 closes one of two lanes, slowing traffic through the area.

Delays pile up on the Garden State Parkway, with a 5-mile backup northbound from Bloomfield to Clifton and additional 2½-mile slowdowns through Irvington, East Orange, and Kenilworth. Southbound Parkway traffic is also sluggish, with 2-mile delays reported in Woodbridge and East Orange.

At the Hudson crossings, Lincoln Tunnel traffic backs up 20 minutes at both the center and south tubes eastbound, while drivers at the George Washington Bridge face delays of up to a half hour.
