FORT WASHINGTON, Md. – A 28-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with murder after police say she fatally stabbed her grandmother and critically injured another family member inside a Prince George’s County home.
Prince George’s County Police said Breante Thomas of Waldorf was taken into custody Friday by the department’s Fugitive Unit, with help from the Charles County and Calvert County sheriff’s offices.
Officers were first called on September 14 around 1:50 p.m. to the 500 block of Bonhill Drive in Fort Washington for a welfare check. Inside, they found 81-year-old Helen Thomas suffering from stab wounds. She died at the scene. A second victim, an adult male relative, was also stabbed and remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Detectives charged Thomas with first- and second-degree murder, attempted murder, and related offenses.
