GALION, OH – Randy and Tanya Metzger are celebrating an incredible stroke of luck after winning the Ohio Lottery twice in the same day, thanks to their dedication to playing their birthdays in the Pick 5 game.

On December 3, the couple’s evening Pick 5 ticket matched the winning numbers 9-4-7-5-1 in a $1 box play, earning them $417. Thinking that was their only win, Randy didn’t check their backup tickets until the next day.

While cashing the first prize at Speedway #3187 on W Harding Way, Randy scanned a second ticket and was stunned to see a prize of $25,208.50. The auto-pick ticket had the same winning numbers in a different order.

After mandatory state and federal tax withholdings of 28 percent, the couple will take home approximately $18,150.12. They plan to use their winnings to pay off a car and spread holiday cheer to those in need.
