Galloway police, fire department investigating house fire

Galloway Township, NJ- The Galloway Township Police Department is investigating after a fire destroyed a home on 2nd Avenue Wednesday afternoon. According to police at around 12:39 p.m., the Galloway Township Police Dept. was dispatched to the 400 block of S. Second Ave. for a reported structure fire.

When police arrived, the single-family home was fully engulfed in flames. Officers checked to ensure that all of the occupants of the home had escaped prior to the arrival of the fire department.

Bayview Volunteer Fire Co., Oceanville Volunteer Fire Company and Absecon Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. Galloway Twp. EMS, Galloway Twp. OEM, Atlantic City Electric, South Jersey Gas, and the Red Cross all responded to the scene to assist.

South Second Ave., between Jimmie Leeds Rd. and Ridgewood Ave. was closed for several hours due to Fire Department operations.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
