Game of Thrones fan turns ticket into gold with $100K prize

WHEELING, IL — A lucky Illinois Lottery player has claimed a $100,000 prize from the Game of Thrones scratch-off ticket, according to lottery records dated May 22.

The winning ticket was sold at Branford News And Variety in Branford, marking one of the top-tier wins in the licensed Game of Thrones-themed instant game. The $100,000 prize is among the highest payouts available in the $5 or $10 versions of the scratcher, depending on the edition offered by the Illinois Lottery.

The identity of the winner has not been released. Illinois Lottery winners of $250,000 or less can remain anonymous.

The Game of Thrones scratch-off was launched as a part of a national lottery promotion in partnership with Warner Bros., featuring iconic elements and designs from the hit HBO series.
